David and I ran barefoot through the wet grass just after the sun set and the last fire fly had went out. We sat on the pier pond side, where the only light was the unchanging brilliance of Ron Perlmans “west egg” house across the water from us. We stared out towards the beach where on a distant dune someone was setting off fireworks to celebrate the night.
